The combined is composed of 2 runs of 2 contrasting disciplines: one speed race and one slalom run.
Two contrasting disciplines joined together
It is made up of 2 runs which are added together: a speed run followed by a slalom run. The fastest competitor in the speed event will set out first in the slalom. The 2 times are added together and the fastest at the end of both runs is the winner.
Physical and technical versatility
While slalom requires fast reactions, the speed event demands commitment and considerable risk-taking. This means it is the most all-roundathlete who is crowned winner, and sometimes that throws up an unexpected victor !
