Lara Gut Behrami, an extraordinary athlete
Born on 27 April 1991 at Lugano (Switzerland), Lara has a brother four years her junior, with whom she is very close. They were fortunate not only in growing up in the south of Switzerland but also in visiting lots of places with their parents.
A fan of all sports and skiing since she was very young, Lara is also a talented linguist who speaks 5 languages!
Lara was a precocious child, beating records from a very young age and, at her second World Cup in 2018, finished in third place! From the start of the following season, she won her first World Cup and became the youngest ever winner of the World Cup super-G.
Her crowning glory came in winter 2015-2016 when she won the Crystal Globe, the World Cup overall title.
Lara has also had numerous injuries but on each occasion, soon after her comeback she is back on form in super-G, her favourite discipline.
She has just won the super-G at the Cortina World Championships so thus obtained her first World title, a great reward after her domination of the previous races in this discipline. Twice on the third step of the podium in the downhill at the Olympic Games in Sochi (2014) and the giant in Beijing (2022), she won the Olympic gold medal in her event, the Super-G in Beijing.
