Matthias Mayer, king of the Olympic Games
Matthias Mayer was born with skiing in his blood: his father was an Olympic silver medallist in super-G in 1988 in Calgary (beaten by the famous Franck Piccard!)
The Olympic Games run in the family as he won the gold medal in the downhill in Sochi (2014) and the super-G in PyeongChang (2018) and the one in Beijing (2022). He won the bronze medal in downhill at the Beijing Games.
He finished 4th in the overall World Cup standings for the 2021-2022 season.
As for the World Championships, he has not yet managed to add a victory to his list of wins, despite numerous podiums in the World Cup. To be continued for the 2023 Worlds Championships!
