Sofia Goggia is the speed specialist by excellence.
First Italian crowned Olympic downhill champion at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, she won the crystal globe in 2017-2018 as well as in 2020-2021 of the discipline.
She misses the World Championships in Cortina, at home due to an injury ending her season.
From the downhill in Val d’Isère in December 2020, to the one in the Savoyard resort a year later, she won all seven downhill races in a row. Her spectacular style has also led to a few big falls, injuries, and setbacks in her career.
It was only three weeks after injuring her left knee that she managed to win the silver medal in the downhill at the Beijing Olympics, before winning the small globe for the third time at the end of the season at the Courchevel Meribel 2022 finals.
